The babies slept well last night

the moon was full last night

so the parents couldn‘t sleep

and the animals were uneasy

and the city was shivering all night

 

The boys in the gang all fear the moonlight

in fact they fear much more but they pretend

to be the bravest, and the coolest, the toughest

and the strongest

and then the cry themselves to sleep at night

 

Sleep well tired city sleep

you won‘t miss a thing

when you let yourself rest

The rats in the park all leave their holes

they don‘t fear the moonlight

only people

and they are tossing and turning in their beds now

cursing the day to come
